It is that day when I rub my eyes and wake up to the sweet sound of my alarm which takes me by surprise ,because it had never been SET to do so, in the last one year. Anyway, the drama continues as I rush to the loo, take my shower and get dressed in 5 minutes flat, only to realise that I haven't brushed me teeth. All this rush is just because I don't wanna get my ass kicked out, well before the IIMs do so. No idea about the venue whatsoever, I rush to the autostand to find out 5 auto-drivers debating over the Indian team performance and who should be the next Indian skipper.
Indeed, cricket is a religion.I somehow manage to convince one of the drivers to rush me to the exam venue and I managed to get there in time.

The drama gets a bit more interesting once we reach the venue. The intensity in the carbon-framed eyes, the girls biting nails and the sheer effort just to check out the seating arrangement on the blackboard. Aah! it gives me a gush of nostalgia how it used to be in school(Engg. was a different story altogether).I think to myself, approximately 1000 people are appearing from this venue out of which apparently, only 0.01% might get through which itself is quite an optimistic estimation. The gates open and we all enter making perfectly streamlined queues to avoid pushing and pulling, and well clashes of groins.Sorry. The utter confusion in the eyes searching for the right building, the right floor, the right classroom and then,it boils down to the right desk. You just got to be there to experience the FUN. Given the intelligent guy that I am, got my seat at the first try. Seated at the 3rd desk from both front and back in the 3rd row from the desk. A combination of 3-3-3.9 hasn't been quite a lucky number for me.

The twist in the tale starts when a girl sits down in the 4th row, at 180 degrees to me,ie at the 3rd desk.Add to that, a burgunty dyed gal enters the classroom, and of all places, she is destined to sit right infront of me,on the 2nd desk of the 3rd row. I have a very sensitive nose, and well, I can smell her Garnier Fructis. I think to myself,GOSH! my CAT is screwed. I lean to get her name from her ADMIT CARD and I managed to do so.Yippeee! Just when I tried to ger number, my guilty conscience rebuked me to get back to my exam frame of mind and remember the reminder theory. Phtphtpht!!!!!! (Fill that up with the worst abuse you can think of!)

The drama isn't done yet. The invigilators are distributing the answersheets, and over the speakers installed in the classroom, the supervisor announces ,"Invigilators, ARE YOU OVER WITH THE DISTRIBUTION?". I laughed out my intestines. That silly lady doesn't know ,it's only one way! The laughter stopped and I realised in embarassment that the entire classroom was staring at me ,including my Garnier Fructis lady! Whoopsie Daysies! All this embarassment dissolves in a mobile ringing just behind me.Thank Sweet mother of Lord. The invigilator instructs strictly,"Switch OFF your mobile phones and keep it at the Front Desk". Someone doesn't trust the front desk. And well he keeps it on the top of the class cupboard. Hmm. The guy whose mobile was ringing, asks, "Ma'am,what about my wallet?" I can't take the drama anymore further. It's time for me to concentrate. The bell has rung, and its time to open the Question Paper. Aah. I've got set 3-3-3. 9 isn't my lucky number.

P.S. I screwed it all up. English:46,DI:26,QA:12
Breaking News: Sujoy is officially out of the CAT race.

Screw CAT 2007

CAT 2007

So, am sitting on the other side of Nov 18th and like every year after D-Day, I am not happy. I am over and done with it. The annual fest we call CAT is through for me and I have planned to call it quits. With a whole baggage of pretty ugly realizations. The thing is if I plan for CAT again next year, ie 2008, if at all I get through, I'd be able to get admissions in 2009, and well pass out in 2011. Just don't want to pass out in the next decade. That sounds awful. So awful! Anyway, it is my fault that I didn't take it that seriously. So what's next? GMAT! GMAT! GMAT! For one, I'm not studying any formulas now, and am busy blogging. This is simply put, ridiculous. I can really imagine, how 150,000-200,000 Indian brains(speculative figure) right now are pondering over their small compendium that they might have constructed by now with some quick reference notes which might consist of divisibility rules, important square roots, reciprocals, numbers and well, frequented words from Barron's. But hardly do they know that only only a mere 10% of them are going to get their buttocks on the seats they want to.The rest 90%, are either coming back next year, as every year that I do, or probably if they are a Software Engineer, ask their managers to send them onsite(ie abroad, which in most cases is US,UK), or well perhaps settle down for other options like joining some other B-School rated lower in the (B-School)list. For me, well, after almost lots and lots of introspection and turbulent brainstorming and soul-searching, I have finally decided to give GMAT a shot(which I had previously planned to appear in October).
To quote Freddie Mercury:

.....This time I think it's for real,
....I want to Break Free
And well this series of post which will bugging the blogosphere from this mad author, will be the chronicles of his GMAT preps, his techniques, his test results, and well, success/failure rates, etc.etc.etc. WISH ME LUCK. Fingers Crossed.

P.S. I have decided to write GMAT in January last week.

Pic Courtesy:juicedus

Cien sonetos de amor

If there is anyone who has been able to put Love on paper completely, that'd be Pablo Neruda.
I can fight for it. We take pride in our democracy. And my head bows down with shame when it comes to talk of the events that have swept the nation last weekend. While the entire nation was busy celebrating Diwali ,innocent people at Nandigram,West Bengal were met with what can only be termed barbaric. And yes, this is still, what we'd all forget soon, coz it was yesterday's headlines. Is it really that easy for us to forget? What if it was to happen with our own dear ones, our own families? For those who aren't aware of the entire Nandigram chapter, go to this link here. Do human lives come that cheap, or has the industrialist veil blindfolded the human eye and filled it with the insatiable thirst for wealth at the cost of anything, even the life of his own brother? Let us all protest against this brutality and join forces and make our leaders notice that it is we who build this Nation. As a sign of this protest, let us all put up a black image as the one above, on our blogs, websites, social media profiles etc. Let us make them know, that " Cholche ..Cholbei...ekhon aar..Cholbe Naa"( Has been going so, Will go in the same way.....It won't go so anymore!!!!").

Lost in Thought

I have the envelope in my hand and it makes me wonder
Is it for me or was it meant for me to post?
I stand at the stairs , and I now hear a thunder
Was I climbing up or going down, all my memories lost!

And I open my bag searching for something
Something...Which I don't even know
There are times when I lie down on my bed
Knowing not if I'm resting or getting ready to Go

I can see the traffic signs,I can hear the police whistles
No doubt, my senses are fine
I can push a car, I am strong enough
But oh Lord! this site here, which posted 10 questions to ask oneself everyday. Needless to say, these questions are mostly for those
who are as mad a blogger like me. I am just trying to find the answers and jot them down. Let's see how I fair.

The Morning Power Questions

 1. What am I happy about in my blogging life right now?

-Hmm.Tough one to start with.I have been blogging for almost two years now. I have been utterly lazy at times and there have been times when I have been not blogging for almost 5 months at a stretch. So the most happy thing in my blogging life right now is that I am back, and am posting almost regularly. I am writing much more, may be better than before.

2. What am I excited about in my blogging life right now?

-Getting comments, good and bad.Getting visitors. To get to see the readers on MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog etc. To see people stumbling on my posts. That's a high. Well, also seeing my adsense balance going higher.LOL

3. What am I proud about in my blogging life right now?

-That apart from Techkeyla(which is a tech site, and I derive information, not steal, from many sources)I write original stuff. There are many bloggers out there who recycle stuff just for the sake of ..I really don't know why. But I write my own stuff.Makes me proud.

4. What am I grateful about in my blogging life right now?

-I am grateful that no one thought of the domain names that I have.LOL. I am grateful to flickr,yahoo,apple,microsoft,...but above all I am grateful to Google.

5. What am I enjoying most in my blogging life right now?

-I enjoy when people at my workplace come up to me asking how the movie was coz they know I blog about movies, and they come up to me asking for the latest news from Ubuntu and Leopard and iPhone. That's a high

6. What am I committed to in my blogging life right now?

-To myself. I need to write for myself first and I do it everyday. And I love it.

The Evening Power Questions

1. What have I given today? In what ways have I been a giver through my blog today?

-I have given a lot of weird stuff, a lot of problems for people to try to read and understand a complex 50 ounces which is my brain.

2. What did I learn from blogging today?

-A lot. See I read wikipedia everyday. So you do the math.

3. How has today added to the quality of my blogging life?

-Everyday is a new classroom session. Ok, the philosophy has started to suck on . So I'll stop.
What did I do today. I proof read a 190 paged report of my client. I made 3 documentations and I edited 13 slides. I monitored 5 application websites for 15 minutes each, 5 times after lunch. And I listened to Norah Jones and Aerosmith all day long. Definitely added to the quality of my blogging life. What u say?

4. How can I use today as an investment in my future blogging?

-WTF is this question? C'mon shut up , go home and sleep. I can already see my readers opening up their condom packs, filling water in them and throwing them at me to shut me up from answering to this philosophical crap.

I swear I won't take such surveys anymore.
Buffalo Theory

(In an episode of 'Cheers',Cliff is seated at the bar describing the BUFFALO THEORY to his buddy,Norm. I don't think I have ever heard the concept better explained than this.)

............Well, you see Norm, its like this. A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted,it is the lowest and the weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way,the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now,as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells first, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that,Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Maggi Spice

We all know what has been our staple food for all this years. At the wee hours when we used to prepare for our Semester exams, when the mess was closed, what was that used to simmer on our room-heaters, and still continues to be an integral part of our breakfast, our skipped lunches, and our retreat when the Bai ditches us. It's the yellow packeted ,Red logoed, Slurpy set of two noodles that have bound me for all these years. Simple to make, yummy to swallow, hot on the tongue, I really don't care the nutrition value. The best flavor; Regular Masala. Add some red chill powder, or throw in your own recipe with some fried onions and may be mashed omelette, bam! we have a killer dish. Serve hot with some tomato sauce. Shaanti for the soul. Why speak up at all?Perhaps Pastor Martin Neimoller's view in one version of his quote will answer that question.
He supported the Nazis until he realized, too late, what they were really about and was sent to Dachau concentration camp.He was one of the fortunate to be freed and live until 1984.

this version thanks to information researched at Liverpool Community College
and by University of California Santa Barbara Professor Harold Marcuse

Somewhere in the middle of the night

Somewhere in the middle of the night
I wake up to an extreme fright
From the call of the black cat on the road
Or is it someone calling from the heavenly abode
My roomies are fast asleep
I can hear him snoring , his sleep is bloody deep
...there's no sign of sleep in me
Aah.....how about watching some TV
I switch on the tube..and crap.. there is some
Weird Weird Ad of the Devgans for Tata Indicom
...F$#%K...*******
All my rhymes are gone bust.....

What is the need of the Devgans trying to act like the perfect homemakers trying to sell washing machines, to micorwaves and now cheap-local rate mobile phone carriers, wait a sec...is that the former queen of Bollywood trying to sell....ahem ahem..a USB Based Internet Connection device? Just a week after we saw the banners of " Bringing Chubby Back" , we now bid farewell to Chris Sligh, one of my favourites this season. The journey ends here for him and Daughtry's "Home" plays for the 28 year old curley haired, whose humour and great personality has been one of the highlights of AI this season, not to forget his experimental song choices and renditions and brilliant vocals. It is sad though, that a bad week can send a contestant home, when a string of lousy performances and Diana Ross' Hairdos can make other people stay in the competition. Unlike Simon, my opinion is " It is NOT a singing competition". Of course, if Sundance could get eleminated, why not Sligh?
Sanjaya, are you listening? Well, at the beginning of the season, and well earlier in my blog too, predicitions were that Sligh would be one of the finalists. With Sligh out of the race, its a fight between, Kiki( Lakisha), Melinda(DooLittle) and Jordin , may be with a little push from the side of Blake, the only potential Guy Singer this season. AI never seemed so dull.
But then, even if Seacrest says,"the journey ends for you here", Half Past Forever plays on, and with the band having got the much required Publicity, thanks to Idol, I really hope , Chris Sligh becomes the Daughtry of this season.

For the comprehensive list of all Chris Sligh performances, go HERE.

Campus Rock Idols '07

Its been long overdue, I know, only if I hadn't been busy with all the shit(m@#$F...u fill the rest).Anyways, CRI this year was ok ok types, a bit Thakela at times, a few good bands , some really pathetic ones, and well my reviews are attached along with PICS, so here we go, Campus Rock Idols 07 National Finals....(please don't take them personally, and do not flood my blog with all your hate messages..this is just a personal opinion and keep yours to yourself..or blog about it in your personal space..)

The first band to perform....and well sing to a "Clean Mike"( perhaps, if SOS hadn't made it dirty the previous day) was Kolkata's Crystal and the Witchess....good originals..good medley cover and of course Megadeth's tight cover..but eh! there were bands in the whole competition who were in a totaly different league, ..nevertheless, good band...liked the Bassist and the Guitar Riffs, hated when the Solo of For Whom the Bell Tolls on the Keyboards wasn't audible....

The Second Band..Camouflage from Kolkata. Nothing much to say about..just too many questions.....why .,...how...what......I mean...why..how..what....how did they..I mean..manage to get here ....Historical Blindness...Revolution...ETV Bangla Rock translated in Engleeesh,....God..this band totaly sucked...much more than a Eureka Forbes Vacuum Cleaner...Pathetic...I mean..for God's sake it is the National Finals..not some Mohalla Stuff being sponsored by Brahmi Amla Kesh Tel..

The Third Band..and it felt...Now we are rolling.......this was here to Rock us out..they announced Public Issue from Chennai ...and the crowd went ..Anna ..Anna..(brother in Tamil for starters)...and boss, they went wild..started with an O.C. ( !Xobile) . If you haven't watched the college-circuit famous Russell Peters standup comedy show, there is nothing much I can do about it. But if you have seen it, (I guess, majority of the crowd had)you'd definitely get immersed in the punk groove. The bassist was absolutely slapping, flapping...doing whatever.....and the Band was just Kick Ass...true Punk...

The Second Song was a cover..Green Tinted Sixties Mind by Mr.Big...and man, the guitarist can do something..I was wondering , how the hell he could see where his fingers were from behind those long hair he had....the Vocalist wasn't that outstanding, but he more than made it up by his comic presence...the drummer was like a Classically trained percussionist..(my impression, u may differ, that's ok)..Another original..very funk and punk, but well nothing that I can take home...can't remember the song..only that it had a tinge of Carnatic Music..according to me..Public Issue
Rocked..

Well the next band came , they sang and they conquered....the National Winners...this year..FTN from Delhi...<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" Champions of CRI 07( partly because Brute Force didn't perform this year..), FTN..I wonder what tht means....Bhaiya Kismat to dekhiye..they r gonna open for Maiden on March 17th at Palace Grounds, Bangalore....a feat even Parikrama would kill for....I don't mean to demean them in any way..(big Parikrama fan myself)....hmm...
Update: Parikrama is opening for Maiden in Bangy...yipppeeee

Guess the next band,...SOS from Pune..<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" dig this kinda music..but after FTN..well , I was ready to take a chance on it..They started on quite a low note...well especially after FTN did such a tight set...the vocalist did seem to me like a dedicated Pantera Fan..<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" repetetive after a while....good band...I guess, but not quite appealing music to me....I loved the cymbals though...and the double bass...baaki ...have already forgotten...

Next Band..wht was the name...do I even care...started with Pearl Jam's Alive....cloned Eddie Vader ...to the T...even in Coldplay's Yellow..one question though....If they opened with the lines...Any Led Zepp fans in the house....why did they end up singing..Coldplay for heaven's sake....<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" me..not at all at a National Level....

So that was CRI'07...

Oh How can I forget ...that a band had to come all the way from Finland to show how crap they According to the Idol judges, this curly-haired boy is "the one to beat" in this year's Idol competition.

And Tuesday night in Birmingham, we met Chris Sligh, a Jack Osbourne doppelganger, with a full head of "Justin Guarini" curls.
Could he be the "chosen one" they speak of?
In Entertainment Weekly, Randy Jackson said this year's winner would be "someone with curly hair." Simon said that one guy who stood out from the crowd, "has what I call the likability factor. He's not what I would call the typical American Idol because he's different... but everyone liked him.'' In the New York Post, Paula Abdul described the judges' favorite guy as someone resembling magician Penn Jillette.

Chris Sligh is extremely likable, and funny, and has that fabled "curly hair." He does resemble Penn Jillette in this photo on his website. And Chris certainly doesn't fit Simon's idea of what a "typical" American Idol looks like.

[Start rant] Of course, Simon is starting to piss me off. He keeps yammering about this one and that one not looking like a "typical" Idol. So far, our Idols (besides Carrie Underwood) have had very diverse looks. The American public doesn't seem to want Britney Spears/Jessica Simpson clones. And I just wish that after five seasons, Simon would admit that you don't have to look like a generic-blond-anorexic-Hollywood-sex-symbol in order to win American Idol. And he should stop acting surprised that Americans actually like contestants that don't fit his narrow preconceived idea of what an Idol looks like.[End of rant]

As far as Chris Sligh being the curly-haired guy to win this thing, who really knows? Even if he is the judges' favorite, he still needs to impress the American public. I know from the buzz on the internet that some of you are already won over by Chris. What about the rest of you? Do you think Chris Sligh is Top 12 material? Could Chris Sligh be the next American Idol?
Now in the top 24 of the Season 6 of American Idol, Chris Sligh is very cool. Check this out.

Some good ol' Amul Ads

On demise of film industry's erudite and entertaining filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee popularly known as Hrishida - September '06

Mourning the great Indian film star Raj Kapoor.

The end of the cold war betweeen America &' Russia.

Protests against screening of Hollywood film THE DA VINCI CODE - May '06

On Dr. Manmohan Singh being elected Prime Minister of India - May'04

Virender Sehwag's memorable landmark of triple century against Pakistan in test match at Multan - April '04

Based on the leading soft drink manufacture's new variant advertisement - April '04

On Wimbledon Champions 2004: Men's Singles winner-Switzerland's Roger Federer & Women's Single winner-Russian Maria Sharapova - July'04

Obituary on bollywood's well-loved comedian Mehmood Ali - July'04

On Athens Olympics 2004 - August'04

Wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel's Pathetic fumbling with stumping and catching chances during teh India-Australia Test match in Nagpur - November'04

Based on Bollywood film Yuva - Jun'04

Bollywood actor Mr. Amrish Puri one of the best screen villian popularly know as Mogambo passed away on January 12, 2005. Episode 2 saw auditions in Seattle , one of the least favourites of the judges, thanks to one of the craziest, crappiest, dumbest and most squeakiest of the contestants. It really takes ears of iron to be an American Idol Jury member , I must say. But I am no longer talking of the verbal abuses of Simon, or the Yo-Dawwg of Randy. I am here to talk about the Indian-origin Siblings, Shyamali and Sanjaya who nailed it in the auditions. Shyamali thinks she's better than her bro, and she went in first. The judges liked her a lot as she rendered the jazz classic,Summer time. She got through to the next round. Paula and Randy were really impressed. Next came in Sanjaya and Randy asked him , " Do you think you are better than your Sis?". He answered,"I don't think so". But well , it came to the picture that Sanjaya was a big Stevie Wander fan, and that surely got more than just reflected in his audition round performance. He really took Simon by surprise and Simon surprisingly commented, " Your sister has a better personality, but you got the better voice". Well, oh well, the pair really rocked, individually. Both of them got the golden ticket to Hollywood and they both rejoiced. Ryan did ask Sanjaya whom did the judges think was better between the two. Sanjaya refused to answer it. Well, I guess Shyamali got to know the answer. God bless the internet. I manage to dig out the Myspace pages of Sanjaya and Shyamali. They are listed below.
Sanjaya's page:
Shyamali's page:

Boy, internet is reaaallly incredible. They already have a fan-following on myspace and people have already started commenting of them being in the Top-12. I have my fingers crossed.

Check the video on youtube

American Idol 6:

Why do they show more of the crap rather than show more of who got selected, how and why? Last night, was the 2 hr season premiere of American Idol and the auditions kicked off in the home town of Prince, Minneapolis. Of the 10,000 people who auditioned there, only 17 qualified for the Hollywood Round. The jury besides the usual Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell, also included guest jury member, Country Singer Jewel. But the point is, among the 17 selected for the next round, we only got to witness the selection of mere 4 or may b 5. What happened to the others? We were overtly subjected to the histrionics of Simon and new to this season, Randy was so damn rude!!!! Simon's comments have become utterly repetitive, and the IQ levels of the auditioning participants have hit an all time low. I mean, c'mon for God's sake, who comes to an American Idol audition dressed in a red boxing suit with the gloves on, or for that matter show off ur tap-dancing skills along with juggling sticks. Wake up......

For the latest buzz go to the official website
American Idol

News 24X7

<img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; Because the entire Remix industry exists because of his yesteryear's hits..Because it is for his albums that DJs and retro nights exist..Because he can make asha Bhonsle sound the best, whether it is a ghazal, hindustani classical song, cabaret,or simply bollywood...Because he is Pancham, RDX, Rahul Dev Burman..

To the Baap of Bollywood Music..this is my heartfelt "paay-laagu" or "pairi-pona" of sorts.Because I am so small to talk of his genius. But that is not going to make me stop writing this blog about him.Because I have grown up on his music, totally breathed it ,had literally lived on it till today, and I am sure will, till I die.
We all remember the song "Boss Kaun hai" from Jhankar Beats directed by Sujoy Ghosh(I do take pride that another guy by my name is out there making movies, hah ha).So to start it, lets enjoy this entire musical journey from the beginning.

Rahul Dev Burman was born on 27 June 1939.Story goes that when veteran Ashok Kumar saw Sachin Dev Burman's newborn uttering the syllable 'Pa' repeatedly, he nicknamed him Pancham. And the name stuck. To many, he's still Pancham Da.To me he is Boss(yeah U can say Jhankaar Beats influences.)To him, music came easy and early. He learnt to play the Sarod from the legendary Ustad Ali Akbar Khan at very young age, one of his many instruments in which he mastered. At 9 years, came his first composition, 'Aye Meri Topi Palat Ke Aa..', which was later used for the film Funtoosh and the very next year, his father borrowed the tune of 'Sar Jo Tera Chakraye..' for the Guru Dutt film Pyaasa. The first film for which R.D.Burman scored music for was Mehmoood's "Chote Nawab" in 1961 and the first song in the film was to be recorded was by Lata Mangeshkar. The film marked the reconciliation between S. D. Burman and Lata Mangeshkar who had stopped recording together six years ago.

R.D. Burman had scored music for many a films, including "Bhoot Bangla" in whch he co-starred Mehmood. The film also featured the song "Aao twist karein" which reflected the Elvis revolution that was taking the world by storm then. But, the title of R.D. Burman's first Hit score would definitely go to "Teesri Manzil"(1966), featuring the evergreen , repeatedly remixed hits "O Haseena Zulfowali", "O mere Sona re", and unforgettable intoxicating "Aaja Aaja..main hu pyaar tera ". Vijay Anand can be credited with bringing about R D Burman's first big break. He arranged a music session for the youngster before Nasir Hussain commenced the production of Tesri Manzil. Shammi Kapoor, who heard RD's tunes, is said to have screamed 'Yahoo' in sheer appreciation while Nasir Hussain signed R.D. Burman for six of his forthcoming films. After Teesri Manzil, it wasn't looking back anymore.Followed hits like Padosan,Kati Patang,Pyar ka Mausam,Amar Prem , Caravan,Hare Rama Hare Krishna,Parichay, Jawaani Deewani,Namak Haraam, Yaadon Ki Baarat, Aandhi..the list is endless and the music ..Immortal.

R D Burman's constant efforts to break musical typecast and explore new possibilities came through in the music that he made. Be it the poignant tunes of Kati Patang, the love songs of Pyar Ka Mausam, the fun numbers from Padosan or the soulful melodies of Amar Prem, Pancham had done them all. While making music was his profession, singing always remained R D's passion. He sang occasionally and when he did, it was never went unnoticed. Though he did as much justice to serious tunes as he did to the light numbers that he sang, the groovier tunes always gained more popularity. Though Asha Bhosle is remembered for the legendary cabaret 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja..', the wild cry of 'Monica O My Darling' belongs to R D Burman. together with RD. The composer also sang the sizzling 'Mehbooba Mehbooba..' for Sholay picturised on Helen and Jalal Agha. He however, did not record too many duets with Asha Bhosle who was by then the love interest of his life too. The high-pitched, outlandish 'Duniya Mein Logon Ko Dhoka Kabhi Ho Jaata Hai..', is one of their best remembered duets. No one can doubt the vibe that oozed out with his musical ventures Asha and Kishore.

And yes, who doesn't remember the experiments that he did with his compositions,..be it the clinging of glasses in "Churaliya hai tumne jo dil ko ", or the only-bass rythmn in "Tere Bina jeeya jaaye naa".Take his classical based compositions, Piya Bawari(Khubsoorat), Beeti Na Beetaiyee(Parichay) and we find ourselves immersed in his music and feel so amazed whether it is the same man who brought us the Qawwalis of Hum kisi se kam nahi,or the truly Bollywood isshtyle Romantic numbers of Love Story.Towards the mid-80s though, Panchamda was going through a rough patch as his films were bombing at the Box-Office.Bappi Lahiri and the Disco age had overtaken him and R.D's producers just disappeared. It was very unfortunate for us that during the nineties, when Indian Music was going throught the stupid Pop-Disco Wave and MTV had just entered our lives, R.D.Burman had not many compositions then.He was last heard in Ijaazat (1987), after huge hits like Saagar,Betaab and Masoom in the 1980's.And Parinda in 1989 also provided the everlasting hit..Tumse Milke.

Fortunately for us, Vidhu Vinod Chopra approached Panchamda for his ambitious 1942-A Love Story. And rest as they say, is history. The music today is considered as his "Swan Song", as Panchamda left for his heavenly abode on Jan 4, 1994. He wasnt there to recieve his last Filmfare award for the film's music.

From his expertise in Hindustani Classical and Indian Ragas to a keen interest and influence at times of american Jazz and Rock n' Roll, RD's musical interests stretched from 'ear' to eternity. It was R.D. Burman who really brought the groove into Hindi Film Music, ushering in the era of electronic rock and providing Hindi film Music with a whole new 'happening' sound. His hip and energetic youthful compositions proved extremely popular from the late 1960s till the early to mid-1980s providing much of the music that defines today's Bollywood.

Stand up and Salute to the Master, the Baap, the Boss...Rahul Dev Burman!!

Whats up with the News today??

Idols drinking milk,Sea Water getting sweet, National Hockey Players getting accidentally shot in train, Encounter- killing one in Antop Hill, and above all One year in captivity, dreams to be the next MLA. The only real News seems to be the Cinderella Story of Yamini from Chandigarh picked up by Satish Kaushik for his latest flick after he saw the girl on the cover page of TOI. Give some share to the photographer too I say. Oh, where is Prince by the way these days? I guess, the amount of footage that he demanded from all the news channels, left the Aishwaryas and the Bachhans feeling neglected.

Chaos Prevails

Chaotic dynamics
Sensitivity to initial conditions means that two points in such a system may move in vastly different trajectories in their phase space even if the difference in their initial configurations is very small. The systems behave identically only if their initial configurations are exactly the same.
Sensitivity to initial conditions is popularly known as the "butterfly effect", suggesting that the flapping of a butterfly's wings might create tiny changes in the atmosphere, which could over time cause a tornado to occur. The flapping wing represents a small change in the initial condition of the system, which causes a chain of events leading to large-scale phenomena. Had the butterfly not flapped its wings, the trajectory of the system might have been vastly different.

Switch over to India , circa 30th May 2006. India surrounded by the Chaos of the Reservation Uproar, the Chaos of Crashing Markets, Chaos of Militant attacks in the North,North-East and the South tormented by Nature's tremors. What is it with India and Chaos? Was it all caused by some butterfly? As Dylan would say it,"The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind...."
Arjun Fucking Singh...I just do not want to censor out my words, not for this man.Wish I could write beautiful abuses , ones which you find or probably listen at the New York Street Fights, or ...forget it..we all know who he is, and what kind of a death is he marching towards..Who the Fuck is he to decide the fate of the millions of us..Yes, we did elect him to get to the chair on which he is resting his arse' upon, but does that give him enough justification to do what he is upto ...Post Reservation, the scene would look somewhat like 50.9% for the General. Doesn't this look like some kind of reservation. Talented, deserving people would definitely flock to foreign universities and stay happy earning dollars on foreign soil, and those who cannot afford to do that, end up somewhere where they do not belong. On one hand, the government spends millions in organising the Pravasi Divas with Sharukh Khan shaking hips to Bollywood Tunes, and on the other hand, the same government promotes Brain Drain. Last heard, the governement appealed Laxmi Mittal to come back to India. Give me one good reason why he should after all this has happened. And to end it all, the Government is all set to pass the bill, and then to me and you, it will be a law. Coming up next is the Reservation in the Private Sector.I kid you not. All in the name of democracy my friend.

Next in the offering, the Narmada Andolan Uproar which has taken an all new twist similar to a Manmohan Desai flick. Aamir Khan adjudged as unjustified and guilty for voicing out his opinions and public display of support to the Narmada Bachao Andolan. As a result, Rang de Basanti stripped off from the theatres, and Fanaa banned in Gujrat. Wonderful news is what I say. Today , in a world when news is fabricated, this seems like some delicious apple pie journalists across all channels would love to gulp down.I mean, if Aamir Khan decides one day that whatever is happening out there is wrong and wants to support it, who the hell are these petty organisations to control or I say censor his views. Screw 'em. Over and above, the Media in its pursuit to sensationalise things( as usual) , is trying hard to relate this very issue with the Coke issue of pesticide or no pesticide. Aamir Khan is being questioned whether he would be continuing to endorse Coke or not. To this Aamir replied that , he is in talks with the Coke people personally and is asking for explanations, and if he finds that the allegations are found out to be true, he would quit endorsing Coke.Poor guy, he asked for it. The Indian Media spares none. Not even Mr.Arjun Singh.
Well again coming back to the reservation issue, everyone was a witness to the televised version of Kaavya Viswanathan's next novel (inspired froma true interview , not from famous bestsellers) titled, How Arjun Singh Got Kicked,Got Screwed and Got a NationWide Thrashing Live on National Television. If you still didn't get it, I am talking about the recent interview ( was it, I think Karan Thapar waited for this) of the Minister of HRD in "Devil's Advocate". Excerpts are given in the following link.
Devil's Advocate Interview

I just loved that.
Hmm, what else has been chaotic? Aaah..Da Vinci Code. This time India did not remain an exception. Well, almost. The I&B ministry had to demand for a special screening just to defer the national release date to a week later than the World Wide Release date. The movie is now banned in Goa and Punjab. Why in Punjab, I am the wrong person to ask to.And well, Why at the first place the I&B ministry decided to poke its nose, when it finally left the decision in the hands of the Censor Board, even when the movie was passed by the CBFC? Well, probably because it did not go for the advanced booking of the tickets and hence could not arrange for the tickets for his friends and family.I mean, it was just plain simple ridiculous to find out that of all the places inthe world, India was the first place where the movie was on the verge of getting banned, even when it was being screened in countries like US,UK where Christianity is definitely not a minority, and also in Rome, where the Pope himself resides.I would like to qoute here what a priest had said himself in an interview to NDTV, that a movie or a simple fictional idea cannot shake the basis of a religion and belief so old and followed by billions.

Well, keep watching this space, will be back with more

Who is V? u ask...The answer is....

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished, as the once vital voice of the verisimilitude now venerates what they once vilified. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

I am V

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Me and my friend planned to go watch the movie at Adlabs , which is a decent 9-10 kms from my place. Anyways, we booked the tickets and we got em.Reached there quite early..but the movie wasnt to start at its scheduled 10:45 pm. Instead, the doors opened at 11pm. Still pissed off with the day, we moved in. As we were getting cozy, we saw the entire hall was filled with Uncles,Aunties, and lads our age who would whistle at every drop of a hat.And then, the reels started rolling, but hey that's a trailer...of Krrish( hope I'm spelling it right). I found this cool thing on the net about the many replies, or rather reactions of famous people on this very question. Interesting reading, I must say.

CBS-TV's Andy Rooney
I could have said "Didja ever wonder why it is that the chicken crossed the road, and which road it was?" I did ask some turkeys, however, and this is what they said...

President William Jefferson Clinton
That depends on how yuh define "road".

COBOL Programmers
0001-CHICKEN-CROSSING.
IF NO-MORE-VEHICLES THEN
PERFORM 0010-CROSS-THE-ROAD
VARYING STEPS FROM 1 BY 1 UNTIL
ON-THE-OTHER-SIDE
ELSE
GO TO 0001-CHICKEN-CROSSING

Hillary Rodham Clinton
I don't bake cookies; I don't cook chicken. Mahesh Bhatt screaming out his lungs to state that," Yes, I want to watch pornography, so who'll stop me!!". Well, the man has got a point. Man, I mean..India is a democracy, at least we say it so. But in the name of democracy, what we get is Moral Police monitoring over each one of us. Who the f#$k are they to do so? Well, I got carried away. The point is , in the land of KamaSutra, is it really a big deal to watch a couple doing the most natural thing in the world.
But then, when it comes to the creative aspect of Cinema, are we really getting sensible cinema, or is it just a sleaze-fest..in the face Soft Porn with Wet-Saris, Shower Scenes, and Satin flowing over Flawful Obese South Indian "Actresses". I mean, consider Hollywood. Was Titanic a huge grosser because of the nude painting scene of Kate Winslet. The Answer is a big NO. Take any other movie for instance in Hollywood. There nudity and issues of sensuality are dealt with so much sophistication, and movies which do not believe in this, bomb at the Box Office. e.g. Barb Wire..need I say any more.
So, the bottom line is, for the sake of raking in some cheap money, these even more cheap filmmakers won't hesitate to cut down some costume bills from the Movie Production and add into the Water Works. All in the name of Show Business. And yes, SEX does Sell.

English..izz a very ffunnny language

The English Language. Have you ever wondered why foreigners have trouble with the English Language?. Let's face it. English is a crazy language. There is no egg in the eggplant No ham in the hamburger. And neither pine nor apple in the pineapple. English muffins were not invented in England. French fries were not invented in France. We sometimes take English for granted But if we examine its paradoxes we find that Quicksand takes you down slowly, Boxing rings are square. And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. If writers write, how come fingers don't fing. If the plural of tooth is teeth. Shouldn't the plural of phone booth be phone beeth, If the teacher taught, Why didn't the preacher praught. If a vegetarian eats vegetables. What the does a humanitarian eat? Why do people recite at a play, Yet play at a recital? Park on driveways and Drive on parkways. You have to marvel at the unique lunacy. Of a language where a house can burn up as it burns down. And in which you fill in a form by filling it out. And a bell is only heard once it goes! English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race (Which of course isn't a race at all) That is why when the stars are out they are visible, but when the lights are out they are invisible, and why it is that when I wind up my watch it starts, but when I wind up this observation, it ends

Probably the best song by Metallica,
The song talks about the protagonist of the book "Johnny Got His Gun", by Dalton Trumbo.
The book was was published in 1939 and tells the story of a young, American soldier Joe Bonham, injured grievously on the last day of WWI. He loses his sight, speech & hearing and undergoes a quadruple amputation (both legs and arms). As a result, he literally becomes a vegetable,an animate object, alive, but unable to understand it. The people at the hospital where he's kept cannot communicate with him in any possible way, and he with them.
The story is told from his perspective - he does not know what's happened to him, does not know where he is, even whether or not he's alive or dead - the only part of him still functioning properly, his brain, keeps trying to make sense of it all.Remember the song lyrics??I can’t remember anything
Can’t tell if this is true or dream
Deep down inside I feel to scream
This terrible silence stops me
Now that the war is through with me
I’m waking up I cannot see
That there is not much left of me
Nothing is real but pain now...
The video has clippings from the movie of the same name (and based on the book), which was released in 1971...at the height of the Vietnam War.
The screenplay was written by Dalton Trumbo himself.
I liked the song instantly when I heard it first. Later, I saw the video and it aroused my curiosity. And then when I discovered the facts, I was totally blown away...

The song marks the arriving of the band Metallica to become the Metal Loprds that they are..
The song with intense vocals by James Hetfield, brilliant guitar solo by Kirk Hammett, but the thing that stands out the most is Mr. Lars Ulrich's drums beating harder, faster ..seems like all hell has broken loose..when Hetfield screams out "Darkness imprisoning me...."..its metal at its best

Tathastu

Why Tathastu U say?Bcoz, its my blog(Reason I). I dont want to be rude, but hey its my space, so please don't argue with me upon this. Reason II--I have grown on an overdose of BR Chopra's Mahabharata and Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana, and so yes, Televised Hindu Mythological Influences, you may say.Reason-III--the most important of the lot, I see in this one word, the essence of life, my life, your life and everyone's life--to get my desires and wishes fulfilled.
For all u who don't know what it means, and are tired of 'googling', 'Tathastu' is a Sanskrit word which means,'It shall be so, as you hope/wish'
We all dream, don't we?Some of us in our sleep, some of us with our eyes open.Well I do dream at both the times. But my dreams in my sleeps are preoccupied with stuff that I don't want to discuss about. So, I'll rather discuss about those which I dream with my eyes open, which is aptly termed day-dreaming.
But hey, once I start discussing about stuff like these, I wont b a personal person. I would have opened all Pandora's boxes for me. So, I'd rather stay silent, and stay happy, that my First Blog titled 'Tathastu' is my 'Vardaan'.
Yes, I can be very painfully confusing. Heck, that's the way I am.
